Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

FrenchWithEase ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and what rights you have. It applies to all visitors of frenchwithease.com.

Because we are based in Switzerland, this policy complies with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nFADP / DSG), which entered into force on 1 September 2023. Where we serve visitors from the European Union, we also strive to meet GDPR standards.

1. Who We Are

The data controller is FrenchWithEase, operated by an individual based in Switzerland.

2. What Data We Collect

We only collect data that is necessary to provide our services:

  • Email address — when you subscribe to our newsletter or contact us.
  • Purchase information — when you buy an ebook: your email address and the details of the transaction. Payment card details are handled entirely by our payment processor and are never stored on our servers.
  • Usage data — basic analytics (pages visited, time spent, country) to understand how visitors use the site. This data is aggregated and not linked to individuals.

3. Why We Collect It (Legal Basis)

  • Newsletter emails — based on your consent (GDPR Art. 6.1.a). You can withdraw consent at any time by clicking "Unsubscribe" in any email.
  • Purchase processing — necessary for the performance of a contract (GDPR Art. 6.1.b). We need your email to deliver your ebook and send your receipt.
  • Analytics — based on our legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6.1.f) in improving the website experience, provided it does not override your rights.

4. How Long We Keep Your Data

  • Newsletter subscribers — until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your data.
  • Purchase records — 5 years from the date of purchase, as required by French accounting law.
  • Analytics data — aggregated data with no retention limit; individual session data (if any) no longer than 13 months.

5. Third Parties We Share Data With

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the services needed to run the site:

  • Email service provider — to send newsletters and purchase receipts. They process email addresses on our behalf under a data processing agreement.
  • Payment processor — to handle transactions securely. They are independent data controllers for the payment data they collect.
  • Hosting provider — our website host may log IP addresses for security purposes.

Where these providers are based outside the EU, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place (e.g. Standard Contractual Clauses).

6. Cookies

We may use cookies or similar technologies for:

  • Analytics (understanding how visitors use the site)
  • Remembering your preferences

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect some functionality of the site.

7. Your Rights Under GDPR

As an EU resident, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Right to erasure — ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten"), subject to legal retention requirements.
  • Right to restriction — ask us to limit how we use your data.
  • Right to data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing purposes.
  • Right to withdraw consent — at any time, where processing is based on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at contact@frenchwithease.com. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner: FDPIC (www.edoeb.admin.ch).

8. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data from unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's Privacy

Our website is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
